Gallagher’s Corporate Services Executive Margaret Comer to Semi-Retire

6 April, 2016

HAMILTON, NEW ZEALAND – Gallagher today announced that the company’s Corporate Services Executive and Board Secretary, Margaret Comer, has decided to step down from her current position in July, starting an orderly leadership transition over the next three months.

Having built an outstanding career with Gallagher, later this year will see Margaret shift her role to that of Community Liaison Manager working part time and with responsibility for all sponsorship programs. Margaret will continue to act as personal assistant to Sir William Gallagher, a responsibility that she has held for her entire time with the business.

Deputy CEO and Executive Director, Steve Tucker, commented, "Having built an outstanding career with Gallagher, Margaret epitomises what it means to have Orange DNA. Her natural empathetic nature has been a huge contributor to the development of our thriving global culture and her open door policy has seen her help hundreds if not thousands of employees with career advice that has enabled them to grow both personally and professionally. As an integral part of the tapestry that has seen Gallagher grow to the international brand we are today, we are extremely lucky to have Margaret’s unique skill set staying in the business for the foreseeable future".

Margaret is looking forward to the opportunity to focus her efforts on the company’s philanthropic investments, she commented, “I’ve loved every minute of leading Gallagher’s corporate services functions, but now it’s time to do something different and spend more time with my family. Every day we’re helping support people and the community through sponsorship and I’m very proud to be a continued part of that commitment”.

During Margaret's 31 year tenure, she has led the development of Gallagher’s thriving global culture and held responsibility for the company’s human resources, training, health and safety, facilities, and payroll functions. Externally, Margaret has built incredibly strong relationships and last year was recognised for services to philanthropy with a New Zealand Order of Merit.

A statement will follow in regards to Margaret's successor.
