My sister Nancy lives in Marin County outside San Francisco,
is married to John and they have two young boys - Max and Ben. This is an e-mail
update on one of their best celebrity watch reports.
Subject: Celebrity Report from my sister Nancy
Family,
I know my day at the Marin county fair can not compare to the fast pace
lifestyle of my parents. But here goes....
The marin fair a five day event just a couple miles from our house.
Friday was kids are free, so the four of us went. Within the first five
minutes Ben steps up to the fish pond game and catches a rubber fish
while lights go off, sirens blare, "we have a big winner". He is then
given a Pokemon stuffed animal that is about the same size as he is.
John quickly plays another game with Max and now Max is a winner with
another huge Pokemon toy. The boys are in heaven and Ben says several
times during the course of the evening, "this is the best day of my
life". The evening concert is Michael McDonald (from the Doobie
Brothers). I was a big fan of his in college, so I talk the group into
checking it out. We get great seats in about the 10th row. I later go
to the concession stands and everyone is buzzing, Billy Bob Thornton is
there with his wife (Angelina Jolie??). I see him but never get a
glimpse of her. He has a scruffy beard and I don't understand the
attraction of all his wives. The concert starts and Ben falls asleep in
my lap, something only a four year old can do, sleep at a rock concert.
Half way through Michael introduces his friend and a guy who has just
made his own album, Jeff Bridges (yes the actor). He then jams with the
band the rest of the night. Now gals, he is extremely attractive to look
at. We then stay for the fireworks, the boys have never really been able
to stay up to see a full fireworks display. They love it and Max is a
total riot, he has everyone around us cracking up. He is yelling, "this
is the most amazing thing I have ever seen!" and "I am having
the
strangest feelings, I'm scared, I'm excited, and I'm happy all at the
same time". "mom, what do you call these feelings, I'm having?"
So
anyway our $10 admission was well worth all the excitement.
Now, I will bore you with one more celebrity story. There is a new
restaurant in Ross, that was opened two months ago by this young
couple. I think I have mentioned before, that downtown Ross is about
1/4 the size of Flossmoor. Last saturday Sean Penn calls and asks for a
table for six. They squeeze him in, and he shows up with Jack Nicholson,
Kevin Spacey and three other men. They want to sit outside so they can
smoke and order one of about everything on the menu. They close the
place down drinking port and smoking cigars. The owner says they were
very well behaved and Jack picked up the check and asked the owner, "is
this just the tax or the whole bill?" Personally, I found the restaurant
rather expensive.
Other news, my due date is Jan. 8th, someone told me this is Elvis's
birthday. So now I am thinking of Sean Elvis as a name. What do you
think?
Happy fourth of July.
Love
Nancy
