E-Mail Writing Tips - Clear and Simple
by Mark Gallagher

The big tips:

- a clear "subject" that catches attention

- text is brief, friendly and straight-forward in tone

- good spacing around important text

Example 1: Asking a technical support person for help.

Subject: Travel Site
______________________

Mary, We called the Help Desk because when we clicked on the travel site we got this funny error message. Not sure what is going on. We don't usually have this problem.  I'm getting calls from SVPs.
They want something done about it. Mark

Example 2:  This is much better:

Subject:  Need Help >>> Travel Site dead

Hi Mary,   I left you a voicemail.

I bet you can figure this out.

Here is the error message when you click on "Travel" on the home page.

ASP error, line 205, no find match: 456XXpp35, SQL error: 456DD

Please take a quick look and give me a ring.

Many thanks.

Mark
